Was the Cruise Control System Check performed?

Inspect the CRUISE fuse in the fuse block.

Is the fuse open?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Locate and repair the source of the overload in CKT 41 (BRN).
  2. Replace the CRUISE fuse.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Connect a test light from the CRUISE fuse to ground.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step  6

Repair the power supply circuit for the CRUISE fuse.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control switch from the steering column connector.
  3. Connect a test light from the wire harness side of the steering column connector, cavity A 13 (BRN) to ground.
  4. Turn the ignition ON.

Does the test light illluminate?

--

Go to Step 8

Locate and repair the open in the CKT 41 (BRN) between the CRUISE fuse and the steering column connector, cavity A 13.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between the cruise control switch connector, cavity A 13 (PNK) and cavity A 12 (GRY).
  3. Move the cruise control switch to ON.
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

5.0 ohms

Go to Step 9

Replace the cruise control switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Connect the cruise control switch to the steering column connector.
  2. Disconnect the throttle actuator control (TAC) module connector C 1. Refer to Cruise Control Components .
  3. Connect a test light between the TAC module connector C 1 cavity 14 (GRY) and ground.
  4. Turn the ignition ON.
  5. Move the cruise control switch to ON.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

  1. Connect a test light between the TAC module connector C 1, cavity 4 (DK BLU) and ground.
  2. Move the cruise control switch to SET.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 15

Locate and repair the open in CKT 397 (GRY) between the steering column connector connector and the TAC module connector.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control switch from the steering columnb connector.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM from the cruise control switch connector, cavity A 13 to cavity A 14.
  4. Depress the SET switch.
  5. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

5.0 ohms

Locate and repair the open in CKT 84 (DK BLU) between the steering column connector and the TAC module.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Connect a test light from the TAC module connector C 1, cavity 6 to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

  1. Inspect the stoplamp switch for the proper adjustment.
  2. Adjust the stoplamp switch if necessary.
  3. Connect a test light from the TAC module connector C 1, cavity 6 to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the stoplamp switch.
  2. Connect a test light from the TAC module connector C 1, cavity 6 to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 18

Locate and repair the short to B + in CKT 17 (WHT).

Is the repair complete?

Replace the stoplamp switch.
