Was the Cruise Control System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the cruise control switch at the steering column connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM on the cruise control switch connector between cavity A 13 (PNK) and cavtiy A 15 (GRY/BLK).
  3. Depress the resume/accelerate (R/A) switch.
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

5.0 ohms

Replace the cruise control switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Connect the cruise control switch to the steering column connector.
  2. Disconnect the throttle actuator control (TAC) module connector C 1. Refer to Cruise Control Components .
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Connect a test light between the TAC module connector C 1 cavity 5 (GRY/BLK) and ground.
  5. Depress the R/A switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) between the cruise control switch connector and the TAC module connector C 1.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Replace the TAC module. Refer to Electronic Throttle Actuator Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls.
