Removal Procedure
- Remove the backing plate assembly. Refer to
Parking Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Remove the shoes/linings (2) and springs (3, 5) from the backing plate
assembly.
- Remove the anchor pin mounting nut and the anchor pin.
- Inspect the backing plate as well as all other parts for discoloration
because of heat and stress or for any deterioration or damage. Replace the
parts if necessary.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Lubricate and install
the anchor pin, and secure with the anchor mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the anchor pin mounting nut to 200 N·m (148 lb ft).
- Install the shoes/linings and springs to the backing plate, and secure
the backing plate assembly. Refer to

- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to
