J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover

1. Remove the lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
2. Remove the tilt spring. Refer to Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



3. Remove the wire harness straps (2).
4. Remove the 1 wire harness strap (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (1).



5. Remove the wire harness assembly (1) from the wire harness strap (2).



6. Slide the 2 turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connectors (2) out of the ignition and key alarm switch assembly connector (1).



7. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (2).
8. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1).



9. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (1).



10. Remove the 2 pivot pins (3) from the steering column support assembly (1) using J 21854-01 .



11. Install the tilt lever.
12. Pull the steering column tilt head assembly (1) and the steering shaft assembly (3) from the steering column jacket assembly (2).



13. Remove the steering shaft assembly (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (1).

Important: Mark the race and upper shaft assembly and the lower steering shaft assembly to ensure proper assembly. Incorrect assembly will cause steering wheel offset of 180 degrees.

14. Mark the upper steering shaft assembly and mark the lower steering shaft assembly to show alignment.



15. Separate the lower steering shaft assembly (2) from the race and upper shaft assembly (1).



16. Remove the 4 torx screws (2) from the steering column support assembly (1).
