Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
- Remove the tire/wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the connecting rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to Connecting Rod Replacement, I-Beam Front Axle in Steering Linkage.
- Support the front axle.
- Disconnect the stabilizer from the frame. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement .
- Disconnect the leaf spring from the frame. Refer to Leaf Springs Replacement .
- Remove the front suspension from under the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the front suspension unit directly under the vehicle in its correct mounting position.
- Raise the front suspension unit into its mounting position.
- Connect the leaf spring to the frame. Refer to Leaf Springs Replacement .
- Connect the stabilizer to the frame. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement .
- Install the connecting rod to the steering knuckle. Refer to Connecting Rod Replacement, I-Beam Front Axle in Steering Linkage.
- Install the tire/wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
