LOOSE SIDE ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIPS/REPAIR DESCRIBED

Model and Year:1987-88 BERETTA, CORSICA

Customer comments of loose side roof rail weatherstrips to roof flanges on 1987-88 Beretta and Corsica models are due to improperly applied adhesive used to retain the parts. This condition can be repaired by using the following procedure:

1. Open the door and carefully pull the loose portion of the weatherstrip from the flange.

2. Remove any dirt from flange with clean rag.

3. Pinch the retaining portion of the weatherstrip closed by hand in the affected area.

4. Apply a continuous 3/16" bead of adhesive (3M 08061 plastic and emblem adhesive, Permatex part no. 84 clear super auto seal or equivalent) on the outboard upper surface of the flange.

5. Reinstall weatherstrip to flange by hand.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
