ENGINE OVERHEATING LONG GRADES/HARD DRIV.COND.

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1984 Corvette

Some 1984 Corvettes may experience an engine overheat condition when climbing long grades or during hard driving conditions while at high temperatures. An auxiliary electric fan kit has been developed to overcome the condition.

To assist the base fan, the auxiliary fan is designed to turn on when the coolant temperature reaches 115 DEG C (239 DEG F). The auxiliary fan will assist the base fan by lowering engine temperature during idle and low speed operation. The base fan comes on when coolant temperature is approximately 106 DEG C (223 DEG F).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
