ALUMINUM HEADS ARE BEING USED ON SOME CORVETTES BUILT AFTER SERIAL NUMBER 119200. THE ALUMINUM HEAD CAN BE EASILY DISTINGUISHED BY THE 4 RETAINING SCREWS THROUGH EACH VALVE COVER. THE TORQUE SPEC FOR ALUMINUM HEADS IS DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF THE CAST IRON HEAD. TORQUE SEQUENCE IS THE SAME. REFER TO 1986 CORVETTE LOOSE LEAF SHOP MANUAL PAGE 6A1-9, FIGURE 6A1-14,FOR SEQUENCE AND BOLT NUMBERS. TORQUE IS THE SAME AS CAST IRON FOR ALL BOLTS EXCEPT: SHORT BOLTS - 16,12,8,4,3,7,11,15 75-88 N.M. (55-65 FT. LBS.)
