A CUSTOMER MAY COMMENT THAT THE DRIVER SELECTED PROGRAMMING FOR THE PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY (PKE) SYSTEM HAS BEEN LOST. ON THE 1993-94 Y-CAR, THE CUSTOMER CAN SELECTIVELY PROGRAM THE PKE TO OPERATE IN ONE OF TWO MODES (ONE-DOOR UNLOCK OR TWO-DOOR UNLOCK), AS OUTLINED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE SELECTED PROGRAM IS LOST WHEN THE POWER SEAT SWITCH IS USED WHEN THE IGNITION IS "ON", AND THE PKE REVERTS TO THE DEFAULT SETTING, WHICH IS ONE-DOOR UNLOCK.
THE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY CAN LOSE THE CUSTOMER'S SELECTION WHEN THE POWER SEAT SWITCH IS OPERATED WHILE THE IGNITION IS "ON". THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE INTERNAL ELECTRONICS REACTING TO A VOLTAGE SPIKE FROM THE SWITCH. THIS CONDITION IS LIMITED TO THE LAST 300 (1993) MODELS, AND THE FIRST 2,800 (1994) MODELS. AN INTERNAL CHANGE TO THE ELECTRONICS CORRECTED THIS CONDITION IN 1994.
REPLACE THE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH P/N 10256465 FROM GMSPO STOCK. DO NOT USE ANY OF THE 10256465 PARTS IN DEALER INVENTORY, AS THESE PARTS MAY NOT HAVE THE UPDATED ELECTRONICS.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN SECTION 9K TO REPLACE THE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY.
PARTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FROM GMSPO.
