Tools Required

J 41688 SIR Lock Plate Compressor

1. Remove the inflatable steering wheel module coil assembly. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflator Module Coil Replacement .
2. Let the SIR coil assembly hang freely.
3. Remove the retaining ring.
4. Dispose of the retaining ring.
5. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly.



6. Remove the upper bearing spring.
7. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat.
8. Remove the inner race.

1. Install the inner race.
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat.
3. Install the upper bearing spring.



4. Turn the signal cancel cam assembly.
5. Lubricate the lower brass surface with the service kit synthetic grease.
6. Install the wave washer.
7. Install the inflatable steering wheel coil assembly. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflator Module Coil Replacement .
8. Perform a functional test. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement , steps 6-28.
