  1. Remove the HORN #36 Micro Relay from the underhood electrical center.
  2. Connect a DMM between ground and the battery feed terminal in the underhood electrical center which is used for the HORN #36 Micro Relay (battery feed for switch side of relay).
  3. Measure the available voltage at the battery feed terminal for the HORN #36 Micro Relay (switch side of relay).

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

  1. Connect the DMM between ground and the battery feed terminal in the underhood electrical center which is used for the HORN #36 Micro Relay (battery feed for the coil side of the relay).
  2. Measure the available voltage at the battery feed terminal for the HORN #36 Micro Relay (coil side of relay).

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 4

  1. Reinstall the HORN #36 Micro Relay into the underhood electrical center.
  2. Remove and check the HORN Minifuse® #11.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the horn connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the horn connector terminal B and ground.
  3. Measure CKT 29 for continuity to ground.

Is CKT 29 continuous to ground?

--

Go to Step 17

  1. Disconnect the horn connector.
  2. Connect the DMM between the HORN Minifuse® #11 terminal B and the horn connector terminal B.
  3. Measure CKT 29 for continuity between the HORN Minifuse® #11 terminal B and the horn connector terminal B.

Is CKT 29 continuous between these two terminals?

  1. Connect the DMM between ground and the horn connector terminal A.
  2. Measure CKT 150 for continuity between ground and the horn connector terminal A.

Is CKT 150 continuous to ground?

--

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 15

  1. Disconnect the DMM from the horn connector.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between the horn connector terminal A and ground.
  3. Connect another jumper wire between the horn connector terminal B and battery power.

Do the horns operate normally?

--

Go to Step 10

Replace the inoperative horn(s).

Is the repair complete?

  1. Remove the driver's side inflator module from the steering wheel.
  2. Disconnect the horn brush slip ring connector inside the steering wheel.
  3. Disconnect the horn ground strap pigtail from the ground terminal inside the steering wheel.
  4. Connect a DMM between the horn ground terminal and ground.
  5. Measure CKT 150 for continuity to ground.

Is CKT 150 continuous to ground?

  1. Reconnect the horn connector.
  2. Reinstall the HORN Minifuse® #11 into the underhood electrical center.
  3. Reinstall the HORN #36 Micro Relay into the underhood electrical center.
  4. Connect a jumper wire between ground and the horn brush slip ring electrical contact feeding the horn switches from CKT 28 within the steering wheel.

Do the horns operate normally?

Replace the Horn Switch Assembly.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Remove the jumper wire.
  2. Remove the HORN #36 Micro Relay from the underhood electrical center.
  3. Connect a DMM between the horn brush slip ring electrical contact for the horn switches inside the steering wheel and the CKT 28 terminal inside the underhood electrical center feeding the HORN #36 Micro Relay.
  4. Measure CKT 28 for continuity between the battery feed contact for the horn switches inside the steering wheel and the HORN #36 Micro Relay CKT 28 terminal inside the underhood electrical center.

Is CKT 28 continuous between these two points?
