Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Right

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 74076  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the right hand fuel rail cover.

  3. Object Number: 363591  Size: SH
  4. Remove the secondary air injection (AIR) hose from the exhaust manifold using the following steps:
  5. • Remove the bolts.
    • Remove the pipe.
    • Remove the gasket.
  6. Disconnect the AIR hose from the check valve.

  7. Object Number: 379367  Size: MH
  8. Remove the PCV hoses from the breather pipes in valve rocker arm cover.

  9. Object Number: 74069  Size: SH
  10. Remove the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
  11. Disconnect the ignition coil main wire harness connector.

  12. Object Number: 260085  Size: SH
  13. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal (Right Side) .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 260085  Size: SH
  1. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation (Right Side) .

  2. Object Number: 363591  Size: SH
  3. Install the spark plug wires to the coils.
  4. Connect the ignition coil main wire harness connector.

  5. Object Number: 379367  Size: MH
  6. Connect the PCV hoses to the breather pipes in valve rocker arm cover.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the AIR pipe to the exhaust manifold using the following steps:
  9. • Install the gasket.
    • Install the pipe.
    • Install the bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Connect the AIR hose to the check valve.

  12. Install the fuel rail cover.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  15. Program the Transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 74075  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal.   1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
  3. Depressurize the fuel system using J 34730-1A . Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief in Engine Controls.

  5. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Removal .

  6. Object Number: 74065  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.
  8. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) hose from the check valve.

  9. Object Number: 379366  Size: SH
  10. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve pipe from the left hand valve rocker arm cover.

  11. Object Number: 74069  Size: SH
  12. Remove the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
  13. Disconnect the ignition coil main wire harness electrical connector.

  14. Object Number: 65890  Size: SH
  15. Disconnect the hoses from the evaporative emissions (EVAP) purge solenoid valve.
  16. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid from the intake manifold.
  17. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal (Left Side) .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65890  Size: SH
  1. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation (Left Side) .

  2. Object Number: 65890  Size: SH
  3. Install the EVAP purge solenoid to the bracket on the intake manifold.
  4. Install the hoses to the EVAP purge solenoid valve.
  5. Connect the AIR hose to the check valve.

  6. Object Number: 74069  Size: SH
  7. Install the spark plug wires to the ignition coils.
  8. Connect the ignition coil main wire harness electrical connector.

  9. Object Number: 74065  Size: SH
  10. Connect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.

  11. Object Number: 402140  Size: SH
  12. Connect the fuel line to the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Installation .

  13. Object Number: 379366  Size: SH
  14. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve pipe to the left hand valve rocker arm cover.

  15. Object Number: 74075  Size: SH
  16. Install the left fuel rail cover.
  17. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   18. Connect the negative battery cable.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  20. Program the Transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.
