Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the ground strap nut from the stud on the LH side of the frame.
  2. This is located on the frame directly below the vacuum brake booster.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Object Number: 467206  Size: SH
  5. Remove the ground strap bolt from the engine block.
  6. The ground strap bolt is located on the:

    • Left side of the engine block
    • Rear of the exhaust manifold
    • Inboard of the heated oxygen sensor
  7. Remove the ground strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 467206  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the ground strap and the engine wiring harness ground terminal to the engine block.
  2. Orient the ground strap and the engine wiring harness ground terminals between 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock on the engine block.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the ground strap bolt to the engine block to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the ground strap terminal to the stud on the left hand frame rail.
  6. Install the ground strap stud nut to the stud in the left hand frame rail.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the ground strap stud nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
