Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 284215  Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBTCM/BPMV) (4) and bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  3. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the reservoir.
  4. Drain the power steering fluid.

  6. Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 65347  Size: SH
  8. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 65356  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) from the power steering pump (1).

  12. Object Number: 65354  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  14. Remove the power steering pump and bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65354  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump and bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to the steering pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  8. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Install the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBTCM/BPMV) and bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement in Antilock Brake System.

  10. Object Number: 65350  Size: SH
  11. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
  12. Refill the power steering reservoir.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
