Problem

Action

The power steering gear inlet (pressure) hose is grounding out.

  1. Check for proper mounting and clearance.
  2. Adjust for proper mounting and clearance.

Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .

The rack bearing adjust is loose.

Torque the rack bearing adjust to proper specifications.

Refer to Rack and Pinion Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

The steering gear is loose.

Torque the steering gear mounting bolts to proper specifications.

Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement .

The tie rod ends are loose.

  1. Inspect the tie rod ends.
  2. Replace the tie rod ends as needed.

Refer to Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer .

The intermediate shaft univeral joints are loose.

Service and/or replace as needed.
