Action

There is some noise in all power steering systems. One common noise is the hissing sound. The hissing sound is heard when the steering wheel is turned and the vehicle is not moving. The hissing sound is most evident when turning the wheel while the brakes are applied. There is no relationship between this noise and the steering and steering performance.

No action is required.

The intermediate shaft seal is loose at the column or at the gear.

  1. Service and/or replace as needed.
  2. Torque to proper specifications.
