Removal Procedure
- Place a drain pan under
the vehicle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe outlet hose from the
reservoir and drain.
- Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe hose from the power
steering gear.
- Remove the bolts securing the power steering cooler pipe to the
crossmember.
- Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the power
steering cooler pipe bolts into the crossmember.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering cooler pipe mounting bolts to the crossmember
to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Connect the power steering cooler pipe hose to the power steering
gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering cooler pipe hose fitting to the power steering
gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering cooler pipe hose to the power steering
reservoir .
- Remove the drain pan and lower the vehicle.
- Refill the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
