  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Attempt to establish communications with the BCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the BCM?

Using a scan tool, select IPC special functions and command all IPC chime functions.

Is the scan tool able to operate all chime functions?

--

Go to Step 4

Using a scan tool, select BCM data display and monitor the key-IN-ignition status with the key IN then OUT of the ignition.

Does the scan tool indicate key-IN-ignition status as ACTIVE with the key IN the ignition, and INACTIVE with the OUT of the ignition?

--

System OK

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Using a scan tool, select BCM data display and monitor the key-IN-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate the key-IN-ignition status as ACTIVE with the OUT of the ignition?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the ignition switch connector C1.
  3. Using a scan tool, select BCM data display and monitor the key-IN-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate the key-IN-ignition status as ACTIVE?

  1. At the ignition switch connector C1 (harness side), jumper terminal D to ground.
  2. Using a scan tool, select BCM data display and monitor the key-IN-ignition status.

Does the scan tool indicate the key-IN-ignition status as ACTIVE?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the ignition switch connector C2.
  3. With a test light connected to B+, probe ignition switch connector terminal E (harness side).

Is the test light ON?

Locate and repair open or short to ground in CKT 80.

Was a problem found and repaired?

--

Go to Step 13

Locate and repair open in CKT 150.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
