BTSI Always On With Ignition in RUN (Lock System Does Not Unlock)

  1. Disconnect the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch connector and the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) control solenoid connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch connector terminal B and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  4. Measure for voltage at the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch connector terminal B.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Reconnect the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch connector.
  3. Connect a DMM between the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) control solenoid connector terminal C and ground.
  4. Depress the brake pedal.
  5. Measure for voltage at the BTSI control solenoid connector terminal C with the brake pedal depressed.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Replace the brake transmission shift interlock control solenoid.

Repair the short to battery power in CKT 1135.
