Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .

  2. Object Number: 70113  Size: SH
  3. Remove the two T30 TORX® screws (4) retaining the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3) to the steering wheel.
  4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3) from the steering wheel.
  5. Disconnect the connector position assurance (1) from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil electrical connector (2).
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the back of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3).
  7. Disconnect the horn wiring harness (6) from the steering column.
  8. Disconnect the ground wire (5) from the steering column.
  9. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3) from the vehicle.
  10. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling, Shipping, and Scrapping .

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module retaining screws (2) into module as shown before installing the module on the steering wheel.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining screws to 6 N·m (54 lb in).

  3. Connect the ground wire (5) to the steering column.
  4. Connect the horn wiring harness (6) to the steering column.
  5. Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil electrical connector (2) to the back of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3).
  6. Install the connector position assurance (1) to the electrical connector (2).
  7. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (3) onto the steering wheel by pushing on both the right and left sides of the module until the retaining screws snap into place.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
