  1. Disconnect connector C219.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Connect a DMM between C219 terminal C leading towards the instrument panel electrical center and ground.
  4. Measure the voltage.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Ignition switch in the ON position.
  3. Turn the wiper/washer switch to LO.
  4. Connect a DMM between the wiper motor connector terminal B and ground.
  5. Measure the voltage.

Is the voltage within the specified values?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 143 between the instrument panel electrical center and the wiper motor connector.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect a DMM between the wiper motor connector terminal A and ground.
  3. Measure CKT 150 for continuity to ground.

Is the resistance to ground less than the specified value?

0.5ohms

Check the WSW MiniFuse® #10 in the instrument panel electrical center for an open circuit.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in CKT 143 between the instrument panel electrical center and C219.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

  1. Disconnect the connector from the wiper motor.
  2. Connector C219 is still disconnected.
  3. Remove the WSW MiniFuse® #10 from the instrument panel electrical center.
  4. Connect a DMM between C219 terminal C leading towards the instrument panel electrical center and ground.
  5. Check CKT 143 for continuity to ground.

Is CKT 143 shorted to ground?

Go to Step 10

  1. Reconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Reconnect C219.
  3. Connect an ammeter (0-30 AMP) across the fuse block terminals used for the WSW MiniFuse® #10.
  4. Operate the windshield wiper motor.

Is the amperage being drawn by the wiper motor within the specified values?

0-25 A

Repair the short to ground in CKT 143

Is the repair complete?

  1. Check all wiper motor linkage for binding or damage.
  2. If OK, replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

  1. Check for an intermittant short to ground in CKT 143.
  2. If OK, replace the WSW MiniFuse® #10.

Repair the open in CKT 150.

  1. Reconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Disconnect C219.
  3. Connect a (30 amp) fused jumper wire between connector C219 terminal C and terminal B.
  4. Connect another (30 amp) fused jumper wire between connector C219 terminal C and terminal A.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the wiper motor begin to operate in the low speed position?

Replace the windshield wiper switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
