Cigar lighter is inoperative

  1. Disconnect the cigar lighter connector.
  2. Connect a DMM between the cigar lighter connector terminal B and ground.
  3. Measure for continuity to ground in CKT 150.

Is the resistance to ground less than the specified value?

0.5ohms

Repair an open in CKT 150.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect the DMM between the cigar lighter connector terminal A and ground.
  2. Measure the available voltage at the cigar lighter connector terminal A .

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

10.0-14.0V

Go to Step 5

Check the C/LTR Minifuse® #7.

Is the fuse open?

Replace the cigar lighter.

Repair an open in CKT 840.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Cigar lighter disconnected.
  2. C/LTR Minifuse® #7 removed from instrument panel electrical center.
  3. Connect a DMM between ground and the cigar lighter connector terminal A.
  4. Measure CKT 840 for continuity to ground.

Is CKT 840 shorted to ground?

Go to Step 8

Repair a short to ground in CKT 840.

Is the repair complete?
