The Cruise Control system will maintain a vehicle speed determined by the driver. Driver controls of the system consist of the cruise control switch inputs, accelerator pedal position sensor, brake switches, and clutch switch (manual transmission).
The Throttle Actuatuator Control Module (TAC), controls the throttle operation under all driving conditions. During cruise control operation the TAC recieves inputs from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), through the TAC serial data circuits, and from driver controled inputs. Cruise Control related inputs, other than the cruise control switch, will affect the operation of other vehicle systems. When diagnosing a cruise control malfunction, determine if any curise control related DTCs are stored in the PCM. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type . Cruise Control related inputs may be viewed with a scan tool through the PCM. Refer to Engine Scan Tool Data List , in Engine Controls.
