Clunk from the front suspension.
Stabilizer link nuts not properly torqued.
Road test and listen for clunk.
Torque the nuts to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Front Suspension.
Rattle from the rear suspension.
Shock absorber upper bolts are loose or cross threaded.
Road test over a bumpy surface and listen for the rattle.
Metallic clunk from under the rear of the vehicle on rough roads.
Internal component of rear tie rod inner end.
Road test and listen for the clunk.
Replace the tie rod inner end. Refer to Tie Rod Replacement in Rear Suspension.
Chatter from under the rear of the vehicle on tight turns.
The axle is low on fluid.
Road test the vehicle in a parking lot making slow speed tight turns. Check the axle fluid level.
Drain and refill the axle with 1.6L (l.69 quarts) of GM P/N 12378261 Synthetic Axle Lubricant and 118ml (4 ounces) of Limited-Slip Axle Lubricant Additive.
Rattle from under rear of the vehicle from the exhaust hanger.
The exhaust muffler blade moves inside the rear hanger.
Road test and listen for the rattle. Insert a shim between the muffler hanger blade and the exhaust hanger. Road test for the elimination of the rattle.
Replace the hanger. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in Engine Exhaust.
Rattle sounding like a loose part knocking against another part. Rattle could sound like its coming from the quarter panels.
Slight movements of the fuel tank are not insulated from the intermediate body panel.
Road test and listen for the rattle. Place a hand on the intermediate panel behind the seats and feel for the tank contacting the panel.

Use a long screwdriver or other tool to help slide the foam piece up into position.
Rolling sound from under the vehicle when performing abrupt driving maneuvers.
There is a portion of a replaced rivet nut or other metal object in a frame rail.
Raise the vehicle and hit the frame rails with a metal hammer while listening for a jingle.
Slap or rattle from under the rear of the vehicle when driving over bumps in the road.
The parking brake cable(s) is/are hitting the rear compartment floor or frame rail outboard of the retaining clip.
Road test over bumps and/or raise the vehicle and tap on the cables and listen for slap sound.
Install foam tape to the floor or frame rail at the point of the cable contact.
Creaking noise from the rear underbody during hard accelerations, braking and during conditions that twist the body.
Check for complete mig welds in the floor panel tunnel brackets to the outer rail in the rear of the fuel tank opening by using a prybar to flex the bracket.
Road test the vehicle. Listen for creaking noise.
Complete the welds for repair. Refer to fuel tank replacement Fuel Tank Replacement in Engine Controls -- 5.7L.
