Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement Front and Center Side Rail

The procedure for replacing the front and the center side rail weatherstrip retainer is the same.

1. Remove the side weatherstrip from the retainer.



2. Remove the screws from the side weatherstrip retainer.
3. Remove the retainer.
4. Remove the window blow-out clip (front side retainer only).

1. Apply sealer to the front side of the blow out clip (front side retainer only).
2. Align and install the clip to the middle screw hole of the front side retainer (front side retainer only).



3. Apply sealer to the rear of the blow out clip and adjacent area as shown (front side retainer only).



4. Apply a bead of sealer (3) to the upper edge of the front section of the roof main control link as shown (front side retainer only).



5. Position the retainer to the side rail.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

6. Loosely install the front screw attaching the retainer.
7. Install the remaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the side rail weatherstrip retainer screws to 3.4 N·m (30 lb in).




8. Apply sealer (3) or (4) to the retainer and install the weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement .

Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement Rear Side Rail

1. Remove the rear side rail weatherstrip.



2. Remove the screws attaching the side rail weatherstrip retainer.
3. Remove the retainer.

1. Apply sealer (2) to the upper corner of the roof side rail and rear of the main control link as shown.



2. Position the retainer to the rear side rail.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Tighten
Tighten the rear side rail retainer screws to 3.4 N·m (30 lb in).




4. Apply a bead of sealer to the upper and lower corners of the side rail retainer as shown in the illustration.



5. Install the weatherstrip.
