Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 175250  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Using HAND T00LS remove the nut from the crossmember bolt to be replaced.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Open the hood.
  5. Remove the battery heat shield, (if removing the right rear bolt only). Refer to Battery Heat Shield Replacement in Body Front End.

  6. Object Number: 173936  Size: SH
  7. Drill out the crossmember bolt anti rotation device rivet.
  8. Remove the bolt.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 173936  Size: SH

    Important: Check the new bolt against the old bolt for proper length. There are 4 different length crossmember bolts.

  1. Install the crossmember bolt.
  2. Install a rivet to the crossmember bolt anti rotation device.

  4. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install a new nut to the crossmember bolt and tighten the nut with HAND TOOLS.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the crossmember bolt nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the battery heat shield (if removed to replace the right rear crossmember bolt). Refer to Battery Heat Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
