Clamp Pliers
- Drain the cooling system.

Cooling System Draining and Filling

- Remove the radiator outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing.
- Remove the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing.
- Remove the thermostat
housing bolts.
- Remove the thermostat housing and note position of thermostat.
- Remove the thermostat.
- Remove the thermostat housing gasket.
Installation Procedure
- Thoroughly clean the thermostat
housing and water pump gasket surfaces.
- Install the thermostat gasket with the taper up.
- Install the thermostat.
- Install the thermostat housing.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the thermostat
housing bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the radiator outlet
hose to the thermostat housing.
- Install the radiator outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
