Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and
support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear stabilizer shaft bolts, nuts and clamps.
- Position the stabilizer shaft downward.
- Remove the intermediate
exhaust pipe-to-rear exhaust pipe bolts.
- Remove the muffler from the muffler hanger.
- On the right hand side, remove the following:

- Remove the muffler from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the muffler to the vehicle.
- On the right hand side, install the following:
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
2.1. | Fuel tank shield, bolt, and nut |
Tighten
• | Tighten the fuel tank shield nut to 12 N·m (106 lb in). |
• | Tighten the fuel tank shield bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
Tighten
Tighten the muffler hanger nuts to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the muffler to the muffler hanger.
- Install the rear exhaust
pipe and bolts to the intermediate exhaust pipe.
Tighten
Tighten the intermediate exhaust pipe-to-rear exhaust pipe bolts to
50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Reposition the rear stabilizer
shaft to the crossmember.
- Install the rear stabilizer shaft clamps, bolts and nuts. Refer
to
Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
in Rear Suspension.
- Lower the vehicle.
