  1. Using a scan tool select SCM input display and monitor the telescoping steering column IN/OUT switch status.
  2. Operate the steering column switch in and out.

Does the scan tool display switch status as ACTIVE and INACTIVE in correct relation to the switch position?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Disconnect the telescoping steering column switch connector C208.
  2. Using a DMM measure continuity of the switch in both positions, from the switch connector C208
  3. • terminal A to C. (in)
    • terminal B to C. (out)

Does the switch have continuity in both directions?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

4

  1. Disconnect the SCM connector C1.
  2. Using a DMM measure the resistance of the switch circuits 2094 and 2095, from the telescoping steering column switch connector C208, to the SCM connector C1.

Is the resistance of these circuits within specified values?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

5

  1. Connect a DMM from the telescoping steering column switch harness side connector C208 terminal C to ground.
  2. Measure the resistance to ground of circuit 150.

Is the resistance within specified values?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step 18

  1. Ensure the adjuster motor soft stop is not limiting the adjustment range.
  2. Press the telescoping steering column switch 6 consecutive times in both directions.

Is the steering column in and out adjustment now functional?

--

Go to Step 19

Go to Step 10

10

  1. Disconnect the drive cable from the telescoping actuator.
  2. Inspect the cable for an internal break or binding condition.

Is the cable in working condition?

--

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 15

11

While observing the mechanical operation of the cable, operate the steering column switch in and out.

Does the cable drive in both directions?

--

Go to Step 16

Go to Step 12

12

  1. Disconnect the steering column adjuster motor connector C210.
  2. Connect a test light between the harness side adjuster motor connector terminals A and B.
  3. Operate the steering column switch in and out.

Does the test light illuminate while motor operation is requested?

--
