  27. If replacing the accumulator, drain and measure as much of the oil as possible from the removed accumulator.
  28. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement accumulator.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 628098 Size: SH
  1. Replacement accumulator will come without refrigerant oil.
  2. Add 60 ml (2 oz) more than amount drained from old accumulator.

  3. Object Number: 296233 Size: SH
  4. Replace the accumulator bracket insulator, if necessary.
  5. Replace the accumulator lower insulator, if necessary:
  6. 4.1. Remove the paper backing from the lower insulator (1).
4.2. Position and install the insulator (1) to the bottom of the accumulator (2) as shown.
  7. Install the accumulator to the accumulator bracket.
  8. Tighten the accumulator bracket bolt just enough to provide some resistance in rotating the accumulator.

  9. Object Number: 297232 Size: SH
  10. Install the accumulator and bracket into position in the vehicle.
  11. Remove the cap or tape from the accumulator hose and the accumulator.
  12. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the accumulator hose and the accumulator.
  13. Lightly coat the new O-ring seal (1) with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  14. Important: DO NOT allow any of the mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil on the O-ring to enter the refrigerant system.

  15. Carefully slide the new O-ring seal (1) onto the accumulator hose until seated.

  16. Object Number: 297300 Size: SH
  17. Install the accumulator hose to the accumulator.
  18. Align the accumulator to the accumulator hose and the rear evaporator tube as noted prior to removal.

  19. Object Number: 297225 Size: SH

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  20. Using a back-up wrench on the accumulator fitting (2), secure the accumulator hose fitting (1) to the accumulator.
