Washer Pump Inoperative

DEFINITION: The wiper washer is inoperative when the switch is activated. Wipers operate normally.

Did you review the Wiper Washer System Circuit Description and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Disconnect the windshield washer pump connector.
  2. Connect a test light between terminals A and B of the windshield washer pump harness connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

Inspect and repair the washer pump lines, nozzles, and connections for any restrictions or leaks.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the windshield washer pump. Refer to Washer Pump/Reservoir Replacement .

Test and repair the washer pump ground circuit 150 for an open or high resistance.

Test and repair circuit 94 from the windshield wiper/washer switch connector C219 to the windshield washer pump connector for an open or high resistance.
