Does the CD Player mute or skip?

Is the CD ejected or does the display show an ERR message?

Go to Step 5

  1. Is the usual route over rough (or dirt) road? If yes, the condition may be normal.
  2. Inspect the disc for the following conditions:
  3. • Proper disc insertion
    • Scratches or fingerprints
    • Warpage
  4. Attempt to duplicate with known good disc. Some discs may contain marks not readily visible that may make one track or the entire disc unplayable.
  5. Replace the radio if all of the above conditions do not exist. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Inspect the disc for the following conditions:

    • The disc is inserted upside down.
    • The disc is dirty.
    • The disc is badly scratched.
    • The disc is wet.
    • The disc is cold and inserted into a hot player or vice versa.
    • High internal instrument panel temperature causing the disc to be ejected.

Replace the radio if all of the above conditions do not exist. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Test the operation of the compact disc player with a known good disc.

Does the compact disc player operate normally?

Fault is with compact disc. Replace faulty compact disc.

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  1. Clear any DTCs which may have set.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
