DEFINITION: Brake warning indicator remains illuminated at all times with the ignition switch turned ON, parking brake released, and brake fluid level is normal.

  1. Display the IPC scan tool data list.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on.

Does the scan tool indicate the brake lamp input OFF?

Does the scan tool indicate the brake fluid level OK?

Does the scan tool indicate the park brake switch inactive?

Disconnect the brake fluid level switch connector.

Does the scan tool indicate the brake fluid level OK?

Replace the brake fluid level switch. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .

Inspect and repair the short to ground in circuit 333, if ok replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

Does the scan tool indicate the parking brake switch inactive?

Replace the parking brake lever assembly. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement .

Inspect and repair the short to ground in circuit 33, if ok replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
