  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the PCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Go to Step 3

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Select PCM display DTC function on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display DTC P0461, P0462, P0463, P1431, P1432, or P1433?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

With a scan tool, select IPC special functions and command a sweep test (minimum to maximum) on the fuel gauge.

Does the scan tool control the fuel gauge?

Go to Step 5

With a scan tool, observe the Fuel Remaining parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the correct Fuel Remaining within the specified value?

0-72.3 L (0-19.1 gal)

With a scan tool, observe the Fuel Remaining parameter in the IPC data list and the fuel gauge display on the IPC. (Use the Fuel Gauge Scan tool Data Table below to convert scan tool data into gauge display values.)

Does the scan tool display correspond with the fuel gauge display within the specified value?

With a scan tool, observe Fuel Tank Level Remaining parameter in the PCM data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the correct Fuel Tank Level Remaining within the specified value?

0-72.3 L (0-19.1 gal)

Go to Step 8

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?
