Did you perform the IPC Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Locate the ambient light sensor on top of the RH DIC switch and cover the sensor with black tape.
4. With a scan tool, observe the Ambient Light Sensor parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Ambient Light Sensor parameter is within the specified range?

0-5 Counts

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 10

1. Remove the black tape from the ambient light sensor.
2. With a scan tool, observe the Ambient Light Sensor parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Ambient Light Sensor parameter is within the specified range?

5-255 Counts

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 10

1. Rotate the dimmer switch on the LH DIC switch counterclockwise to the full dim position.
2. With a scan tool, observe the Switch Dimming parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Switch Dimming parameter is within the specified range?

0-5 Counts

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 9

1. Turn ON the headlamps or parklamps.
2. Rotate the dimmer switch on the LH DIC switch clockwise to the full bright position.
3. With a scan tool, observe the Switch Dimming parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Switch Dimming parameter is within the specified range?

220-255 Counts

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

1. Turn the headlamps or park lamps ON.
2. Ambient light sensor still covered.
3. Dimmer switch still in the full bright position.

Does all of the gauge backlighting illuminate?

Go to Step 12

Does the RH and the LH DIC switch illuminate?

--

System OK

Go to Step 8

Does the RH or the LH DIC switch illuminate?

--

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 12

Replace the LH DIC switch. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Replace the RH DIC switch. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Replace the LH or RH DIC switch that did not illuminate. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
