  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with engine OFF.
  3. Select IPC display DTC function on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display DTC B1542 or B1543?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

Go to Step 3

With a scan tool, observe the Oil Temperature parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the correct oil temperature?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

With a scan tool, observe the Oil Temperature parameter in the IPC data list and the oil temperature gauge display on the DIC.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the oil temperature gauge display within the specified value?

Replace the engine oil temperature sensor.

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
