  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the PCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Select PCM display DTC function on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display DTC P0711, P0712, or P0713?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

With a scan tool, observe Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter is within the specific range?

-40-215°C

(-31-419°F)

With a scan tool, observe Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter in the IPC data list and the Transmission Fluid Temperature gauge display on the DIC.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the transmission fluid temperature gauge display within the specified value?

With a scan tool, observe the Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) parameter in the PCM data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the Transmission Fluid Temperature parameter is within the specific range?

-40-215°C

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Replace the transmission temperature sensor. Refer to Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Replacement .
