Door Ajar Message Inoperative

Has the Power Doors Diagnostic System Check been performed?

  1. Close both doors.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the DOOR AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Step 3

Install a scan tool and display the BCM input data 2 list.

Does the scan tool indicate the driver door or passenger door is ajar?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door ajar switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the DOOR AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

Test and repair the door ajar switch signal circuits 745 and 746 for a short to ground.

Did you find and correct the condition?

--

Go to Step 14

  1. Install a scan tool and display the BCM input data 2 list.
  2. Open both doors.

Does the scan tool indicate the driver door and passenger door are open?

--

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door ajar switch connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the door ajar switch connector terminal B to terminal D.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the DOOR AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Step 8

Replace the inoperative door latch assembly. Refer to Door Lock Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 14

  1. Connect a fused jumper wire from the inoperative door ajar switch connector terminal B to ground.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the DOOR AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open or high resistance in the door ajar switch ground circuit 150.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 14

Test and repair the door ajar switch signal circuit 744 for an open or high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement and Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
