LH Door Lock Inoperative

DEFINITION: The LH door lock does not LOCK or UNLOCK from the LH door lock switch.

Inspect the LH door lock for mechanical malfunctions (binding or bent lock rod, obstructions, etc.).

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Select LH DCM display DTC function on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display DTC B2236, B2238, or B2276 as history?

--

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type

With a scan tool, command the LH DCM to LOCK and UNLOCK the LH door.

Does the LH door LOCK and UNLOCK with each command?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the LH door lock motor connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between both LH door lock control circuits
  5. With a scan tool, command the LH DCM to LOCK and UNLOCK the LH door.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Activate the LH door lock switch.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the LH Door Lock Switch parameter in the LH DCM data list.

Does the LH Door Lock Switch parameter change state?

  1. Activate the LH door unlock switch.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the LH Door Unlock Switch parameter in the LH DCM data list.

Does the Door Unlock Switch parameter change state?

Test the LH door lock control circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the LH door lock switch signal and ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the LH door unlock switch signal and ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
