  1. Install a scan tool and display the BCM inputs.
  2. Monitor the Hatch Release Switch status while pressing the switch.

Does the scan tool indicate the switch is active when pressed?

Inspect the F/TNKDR fuse #32 for an open.

Is the fuse open?

Test and repair circuit 2840 for a short to ground.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test and repair the switched circuits from circuit 2840 for a short to ground. Refer to Power Distribution Schematics in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the HTCHTRK fuse #26 for an open.

Is the fuse open?

Test and repair circuit 383 for a short to ground.

Test the rear compartment latch actuators for internal shorts to ground and replace as necessary. Refer to Rear Compartment Lift Window Latch Replacement .

  1. Remove the HTCHTRK fuse #26.
  2. Connect a test light from the fuse terminal B in the instrument panel electrical center to ground.
  3. Press the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test light flash?

  1. Replace the HTCHTRK relay #36 with a known good relay.
  2. With the test light connected as in the previous step, press the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test light flash?

Reinstall the relay and fuse, replacing the inoperative HTCHTRK relay #36.

Test and repair circuit 1344 for an open or high resistance.

  1. Clear any DTCs which may have set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Clearing .
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
