Battery positive voltage is supplied to the rear compartment lid release switch. When the switch is closed a 12 volt signal is supplied through the switch and signal circuit 1576 to the Body Control Module (BCM) indicating a rear compartment lid release request. Battery positive voltage is supplied to the coil and switch sides of the HTCHTRK REL relay #39. When the rear compartment lid release signal is seen by the BCM and all the necessary conditions for a lid release function are present, the relay is energized by the BCM by providing a ground through the relay control circuit 744. When the relay coil is energized the relay switch is drawn closed and battery positive voltage is supplied to the rear compartment lid latch(s) through circuit 383.
