Has the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check been performed?

  1. Close the rear hatch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the HATCH AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Step 3

Install a scan tool and display the input data 2 list.

Does the scan tool indicate the Hatch/Trunk Ajar Switch is open?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the hatch ajar switch connectors.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the HATCH AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

--

Go to Step 5

Test and repair the hatch ajar switch signal circuit 744 for a short to ground.

Did you find and correct the condition?

--

Go to Step 14

  1. Install a scan tool and display the input data 2 list.
  2. Open the rear hatch.

Does the scan tool indicate the Hatch/Trunk Ajar Switch is open?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the hatch ajar switch connectors.
  2. Connect fused jumper wires from the hatch ajar switch connectors terminal A to terminal B.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the HATCH AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Inspect the rear compartment lid latches for proper alignment and mechanical operation. If OK replace the inoperative latch assembly. Refer to Rear Compartment Lift Window Latch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect fused jumper wires from the hatch ajar switch connectors terminal B to ground.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Is the HATCH AJAR message displayed on the driver information center?

Repair the open or high resistance in the hatch ajar switch ground circuit 150.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 14

Test and repair the hatch ajar switch signal circuit 744 for an open or high resistance.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement and Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
