Telescope Motor Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle Telescoping Column

J 41352 Steering Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 425435  Size: SH
  1. Install the telescope drive bracket (5) to the telebearing and jacket assembly.
  2. Install the pan head tapping screw (3) to the telescope drive bracket (5).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the guide retainer bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  6. Install the telescope drive motor assembly (2) to the telescope drive bracket (5).
  7. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (4) to the telescope drive bracket (5).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  9. Install the connector clip (1) to the telescope drive motor assembly connector (2).

  10. Object Number: 425430  Size: SH

    Caution: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.

  11. Connect the cable assembly (2) to the telescope drive motor assembly connector (1).

  12. Object Number: 415301  Size: SH
  13. Remove the steering column from J 41352 .
  14. Remove J 41352 from the vise.
  15. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
