Telescope Actuator Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Telescoping Column

J 41352 Steering Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 415301  Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Insert J 41352 into a vise.
  3. Secure the steering column to J 41352 .

  4. Object Number: 425427  Size: SH
  5. Remove the following items from the telebearing and jacket assembly:
  6. 4.1. Remove the retaining ring (1).
    4.2. Remove the compression spring (2).
    4.3. Remove the shoulder bolt (3).
    4.4. Remove the anti rotation ball (4).

  7. Disconnect the cable assembly (2) from the telescope drive motor assembly (1).

  8. Object Number: 425432  Size: SH
  9. To remove the telescope actuator assembly (3) follow these steps:
  10. 6.1. Remove the 4 TORX® head screws (4).
    6.2. Remove the telescope drive bolt (1).
    6.3. Remove the telescope drive ball (2).

  11. Perform the following steps to remove the telescope adapter assembly:
  12. 7.1. Remove the 3 flat head 6-lobed soc tap screws (1) from the telescope adapter assembly (2).
    7.2. Remove the telescope adapter assembly (2) from the telebearing adapter assembly.
