Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: The LOW WASHER FLUID message is not displayed on the driver information center when the windshield washer reservoir is empty.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Verify the windshield washer reservoir is at or near empty.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Wait one minute.

Is the LOW WASHER FLUID message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the windshield washer solvent level switch connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the windshield washer solvent level switch signal circuit terminal to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Wait one minute.

Is the LOW WASHER FLUID message displayed on the driver information center?

Go to Step 5

Test and repair the windshield washer solvent level switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the windshield washer solvent level switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield washer solvent level switch. Refer to Washer Pump/Reservoir Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
