Verify the high oil temperature indicator in the message center is always on.

Does the system operate normally?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Observe the Oil Temp in the IPC data 1 list.

Is the Oil Temp below the specified value?

160°C (320°F)

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the IPC connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Test the engine oil temperature sensor signal circuit for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the engine oil temperature sensor ground circuit for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
