Removal Procedure

  1. Mark the proper position of the body side molding (1,2,4) with masking tape.

  2. Object Number: 293098  Size: SH
  3. Use a heat gun in order to heat the body side molding (1,2,4):
  4. • Position the heat gun 152 mm (6 in) from the surface.
    • Apply heat using a circular motion for 30 seconds.
  5. Use a flat-bladed plastic tool in order to peel the body side molding (1,2,4) from the panel surface.
  6. Remove all adhesive from body panel(s) using 3M™ Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  7. Clean the body panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

Installation Procedure

  1. Warm the body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).
  2. Peel the backing from the front end of the body side molding (1,2,4).
  3. Do not touch the adhesive backing.

  4. Press the body side molding (1,2,4) to the body while continuing to remove the backing.
  5. Hand roll the body side molding to the body in order to ensure proper adhesion.
  6. Ensure that the body side molding ends do not overlap the following components:
  7. • The door edge
    • The door edge guard
    • The body openings
  8. Inspect the body side molding ends for bonding.
  9. Hand roll loose ends of the body side molding.
