Replace the wheels if any of the following conditions exist:
| • | The wheel is bent or dented. |
| • | The wheel has excessive lateral or radial runout. |
| • | The wheel leaks air through the welds. |
| • | The wheel has elongated bolt holes. |
| • | The wheel nuts will not stay tight. |
| • | The wheels are heavily rusted. |
Wheels with excessive runout may cause objectionable vibrations.
Replacement wheels must be equivalent to the original equipment wheels
in the following areas:
| • | Mounting configuration |
A wheel of improper size or type may affect the following areas:
| • | Wheel and bearing life |
| • | Speedometer/odometer calibration |
| • | Vehicle ground clearance |
| • | Tire clearance to the body and chassis |
Steel wheels can be identified by a two or three-letter code stamped
into the rim near the valve stem. Aluminum wheels have the code, part number,
and manufacturer ID cast into their back side.
