- Inspect the CD for the following conditions:
• | Clean the CD as necessary. |
- Ask if the usual vehicle route is over rough roads or dirt roads.
If the usual vehicle route is over rough roads, the condition may be normal.
Attempt to duplicate the complaint condition while driving on a smooth road
surface.
Does the CD player continue to skip or mute?

- Insert a known good disc into the CD player. ERR appears under
the following conditions:
• | The disc is inserted upside down |
• | The disc is badly scratched |
• | Moisture condenses on the disc as a result of one of the following
conditions: |
- | A cold disc is inserted into a hot CD player |
- | A hot disc is inserted into a cold CD player |
- | Allow an hour for the condensation to evaporate. |
- Inspect the IP for high internal temperatures. Very high internal
IP temperatures may cause the disc to eject.
