For 1990-2009 cars only
Disconnecting the battery and/or the module's connectors will not clear a DTC. Use one of the two following methods in order to erase the DTCs in the EBCM memory:
| • | The scan tool method |
| • | The module will automatically clear a DTC if the malfunction has not occurred within a predetermined number of ignition or drive cycles depending on the module. Refer to the appropriate module's section for specifications. |
Scan Tool Method
Use the following procedure in order to clear the DTCs with the scan tool:
- Select DTCs for diagnostic trouble codes.
- View the DTCs.
- The scan tool will display the following message: History Data Will Be Lost. Clear DTCs?
Answer YES.
This action will clear the DTCs.
Clear any history DTC after a system malfunction is corrected in order to prevent future misdiagnosis.
